I'm a Registered Nurse!!!
I passed my NCLEX on June 23, 2011 and am now a official Registered Nurse with the Minnesota Board of Nursing since I got my license in the mail! I'm pretty excited and very grateful to the Lord that I passed the first time! It took my about one hour and twenty minutes and I answered 79 questions. I'm grateful I got such a short exam! The NCLEX can range from 75 to 265 questions. The computer instantly evaluates the percentages of wrong/right answers and the difficulty level of the question. If at 75 questions, the RN Candidate does not have a high enough passing percentage of difficult-level questions, the computer will assign more questions until the passing percentage is reached or until the RN Candidate has such a low percentage that he/she can no longer pass the NCLEX, even with the remaining questions. I also applied for my Public Health Nursing License and hope to receive that soon. When I receive that, my nursing signature will be as follows:
Bethany Hedstrom, RN, PHN, NA (for Nursing Assistant).
But not for long! Once I get married, my last name will change and I will have to submit documents to the Minnesota Board of Nursing to make the proper adjustments on my license.
Since the NCLEX, it's been very busy around here! Jon's cousin got married in Iowa, and we enjoyed visiting there. The next big to do is wedding invitations! I hope to get them out by the end of this week. Jon and my family are being amazing helpers.
Nothing new on the job front - I'm hoping to find one as soon as I can and have about 6-8 applications in at different hospitals/clinics.
Bye for now!

Yay! Congratulations, Bethany! Your hard work has definitely paid off. :)
Congrats!!! I found your blog googling u of mm nursing school. After seeing this post I am feeling a bit relived. I was having nightmares about starting at the u this coming fall.
Pa - You will do great at the U! It's an amazing program and the professors are WONDERFUL. They truly want you to succeed and their doors are always open for anything - school issues and life issues. The camraderie that you will form with your classmates is also amazing!! You're in the same group throughout all of nursing school and all the students band together for an incredibly strong support system. I couldn't have done it without them! Congratulations on attending the U this fall. If you ever have any questions, feel free to stop by!
