And then there's Millie. Who often chooses to take a completely different spin on the world. We call Millie "The Escapist". When we adopted her from the Golden Valley Humane Society, her paperwork said that she had been previously adopted, but that she had been returned because of her propensity to "escape". However, as I psycho-analyze my cat on a deeper level, I realize that Millie not only has the desire to escape and brave the outdoors, she just wants to escape the routine of life in general. And how can we blame her? Everyone's an escapist! Here is the definition of escapism:
| "an inclination to or habit of retreating from unpleasant or unacceptable reality, as through diversion or fantasy" - dictionary.com |
Earlier this morning, while Bardia snuggled up next to me, purring like a motorboat, Millie chose a different stance. I think in this instance, Millie is sending a clear message. "Mama. When you wake me up at 4:45 in the morning to play, I will employ escapism as a method of coping with this unacceptable reality."
I know she loves me.

This is GREAT! I love the first picture of Bardia! :) I miss playing with them. I got spoiled those last weekends. Make sure they remember me and my camera.
It was at this time in the morning when I said "Bethany, come back to bed, you need the sleep, you're sick." And she calmly replied that she would after finishing her blog - but we got some good laughs and smiles out of finding the perfect kittie pictures to add to the post. Then Bethany was kind of enough to join me for some more sleep before officially starting our day. And it's true, if you knew Bardia, you would also call him "The Inquisitor"
